Dismantle. Repair.

The title of this post probably makes no sense unless you are a fan of the band, Anberlin. Which I'm guessing most of you are not because they are a small band still performing with other no-name bands for $12 per ticket concerts.

Anyway, perhaps you can guess what this post will be about. (Dis)Mantle. Repair. No our mantle didn't need repair physically, it just never really had anything there. Nor was anything put above the mantle. Since the day we moved in, a hodge podge of items have attempted to claim their place on the mantle, but nothing ever won us over.

For a short time, it was decorated with fresh flowers from the table centerpieces from our friends', Jeff and Meagen, wedding.

But then the flowers died, and they were never replaced.

So I was looking for another solution to put on our mantle and for some type of artwork to be posted above the fireplace. I found some amazing posters at Ikea for super cheap, but since I have no plans to go to Pittsburgh in the immediate future, it was quickly crossed off the list.

Next, came store searching. TJ Maxx, Kohl's and Target became the regular stops looking for something to put above our mantle/fireplace.

Then, yesterday...I found what I was looking for at Kohl's. Two pictures with green leaves very similar to the artwork that I loved at Ikea, but this looked more appropriate with our furniture and overall family room. I showed Tim, he approved.

Tim has become quite handy at hanging artwork so I recruited him to hang these for me, too. Here's what we have now:

As for the mantle, it's ok with me that it is empty still because at least we have something to fill that wall. However, I do have some pretty clever plans for filling up that mantle. Stay tuned! We're halfway there!
