All About U

I love monograms.

I would love to have a big fat "U" stamped on everything from towels to coffee mugs to coasters. Even though I don't have many monogrammed items, I think they are really cool and can be very classy.

For our 2 year anniversary, my Mom and Dad got us a big "U" for our wall. Since we lived in a condo where we couldn't put nails into the wall, I never got the chance to hang it. But I was totally in love with it. One because it was cool, and two because "U" monograms are really hard to find. In fact, they are often skipped in monogrammed items all together. Seriously. I've looked.

We also loved it so much we went and bought one for the other Mr. and Mrs. Ulbrich...the other Mom and Dad!

I've been waiting and waiting to hang our big "U" and officially mark out spot. So, when we moved in, I had all sorts of ideas on where we could place our "U". By the door? In Tim's office? In our bedroom? In the dining room? Kitchen? Finally, I decided to hang it in our foyer to welcome all our guests to the "U" household.

First, I decided I wanted to change it to something that was closer to our house's color scheme. It was a beautiful deep red and gold, but I decided I wanted to go with a more neutral color to match the office and dining room.

To get it to that color, I first primed it in preparation for painting:

But since I didn't like the streaky paint brush marks so I decided to try spray paint:

And the end result is just fabulous:

"U" are welcome here anytime! Stay tuned for more projects with my spray paint can!
