And the Emmy goes to...

This weekend we had the special honor of attending the 41st Annual Emmy Awards for the Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to see my Dad get inducted into the Silver Circle. This year, only two people were inducted, Dad being one of them.

It was exciting to be a part of the event. We enjoyed wine at the cocktail hour and had a nice meal before the awards show started. We sat through several categories, several speeches...some good, some OK, some just plain weird. Finally, they called Dad up to accept his Silver Circle award. And he brought. down. the house. Laughter and cheers had really been kept to a minimum...but Dad by far had the best speech. It was sincere, funny, and truly captured why he has had an amazing career in television.

Plus, the 2 minute video capturing highlights of Dad's career, including the mustache circa 1980's proves where the inspirations for Anchorman's Ron Burgandy came from.

One of the final award categories of the night was for Best Evening Newscast and Dad was nominated for his coverage of a missing girl in Toledo on the 11 p.m. news. And we held our breath as they ran through the nominees....and then announced the winner....yes, Dad wins another Emmy!! (The extra icing on the cake was that he beat out Toledo's competition on Channel 13 and Fox Toledo!) It was a special night.
